Licensing Models

Labcom applications are commercialized in two main models:

  • Software as a Service Model (SaaS) – model based in the periodic (monthly) payment of use for the amount of licenses per type of functionality activated in the customer installation. In this model the software licenses do not belongs to the customer, that just pay for its use. It is a flexible model that avoid high initial expenditures and allows the capacity to growth or decrease based on the existing demand, perfectly adjusting to the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) model of the public cloud suppliers. This models includes technical support and software upgrades in the monthly license value.
  • Perpetual Licenses Model – traditional model of purchasing perpetual software licenses, besides the purchase o implementation services and support services separately. After the purchase the software licenses belongs to the customer that can use it for the period he wants and can even migrate the licenses from one server to another. Software upgrades must be purchased separately.

In both models the customer is responsible by the hardware infrastructure, both is case it of commercial off-the-shelf servers (COTS) in the customer premises or placed in data centers, or when using virtual servers hosted in private os public clouds. Other hardware elements required to complement the solution (gateways, SBCs) are also customer responsibility. Labcom Sistemas guides its customers about the recommended configurations and compatibilities to the offered applications.

Besides the models described here, other licensing models can be considered case by case due to specific characteristics of a project.
